Purchased a Kenmore 700 series electric dryer in Jan of 2009. It didn't take long, maybe 2 years, before the cycle select knob became stripped and we couldn't use it anymore. We then used a wrench for a few months before we bought a new knob. Since replacing the knob, the dryer doesn't automatically shut off anymore. I'm not sure if it is related, or just a coincidence. I know the dryer was a low end model, but I expected a little more life out of it. Is this typical? Is it an easy fix? I've read a few other posts, and determined it's not the push to start, as the dryer doesn't start automatically when I open the door and then close it again. Any suggestions? It's $80 for a sears service call.....is it worth it, or should I just press and start looking at new dryers?
