fridge has sat for about five years, upright, just unplugged. the lights are on the fans inside and out are running and you can hear what i believe is the relay clicking but the compressor does not turn on. reading up many people said that the relays tend to go so. i was going to replace that but the employee at the appliance store said that the relay sounds fine from what i described and that since it is not a solid state relay shaking the relay itself will not tell me if it is good or not.
is anyone familiar with the model? there is a green wire hanging in the back of the freezer which i assume went to the ice maker which is no longer there. I was reading that some of the whirlpools have defrost timers built into the ice maker, so would that not being plugged in essentially cause the fridge to be in defrost mode? if that is not the case i was wondering if the defrost timer is elsewhere and can be adjusted manually to see if that is the cause.
