Frigidaire 417.39022890 front loading washer.
The tub has dropped several inches so that it no longer lines up with the door opening. The rubber gasket is pulled and twisted because of this and may be torn. The tub still turns freely by hand, but for obvious reasons I am not about to turn it on.
Does anybody have experience with a problem like this? What could have broken or come apart to cause this, and is it catastrophic or potentially fixable? The washer was otherwise in perfect working condition as far as I could tell.
I am hoping to have time to take it apart this evening when we get back from Thanksgiving. I am trying to diagnose it in time to hit the sales this weekend if it is a goner.
