Maytag Washer makes banging sound when agitation starts

My Maytag Atlantis washer Model # MAVT754EWW makes a loud banging sound. It starts and fills up fine but once agitation starts it makes a loud banging sound then stops and all I hear is a buzzing sound. Any ideas what it could be? Is it worth fixing?
