Having an issue where the washer won't spin during the drain/rinse cycle. It spins fine in the spin cycle. If I bounce the lid it will spin. I checked the door switch and it is fine. I figured the clutch is going bad. Put that on my things to fix list. Today I noticed that when the washer went into the drain cycle and should have started to spin it went into a fast agitating instead. I stopped the washer and cycled the lid switch several times then moved the timer to another location in the wash cycle. I got the washer to spin but it did not sound right. After spinning for 30 seconds or so the washer just stopped. I don't know if the motor has a thermal cutout or not. I let it sit for 30 minutes then put it back into another wash cycle. Now the washer is operating like before. Spins if I cycle the lid switch. I have not been able to get it to repeat the improper agitation problem.
So was this a transmission issue or more electrical from the timer? If the transmission is shot it may cost more for me to fix then it is worth unless I can rebuild the transmission. I am sure I need to replace the clutch because of the spin issue. Agitation when it should have been spinning has me confused (normal state of mind).
