The auger "engagement yoke" spins freely on my ice maker auger shaft (#9 in image: here) and I have discovered that the shaft has stripped threads (thus the reason why the yoke spins freely). Another person experienced a similar problem and he fixed it be removing the shaft from the motor and turning it "upside down," thus exposing non-stripped threads which would allow for the yoke to be reattached and screwed on securely onto the shaft (Refrig/Ice maker auger not turning - Page 2 - Appliance Repair Forum). How do I remove/unscrew the shaft? I have tried two sets of vise grips (one on the stripped shaft and another on the base of the auger motor (which looks like where the shaft screws into)) and a hammer but it is not budging. I've tried unscrewing in both directions. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
