I have an old Kenmore freezer that the interior light is not working correctly. When you lift the lid the interior light should come on when the lid is in the open position. Now the light flickers on and off as you open the lid and then goes off when its fully open. I was told the mercury switch in the light socket was bad. I found a used replacement however this one turns the light on about half way open and shuts off when the lid is fully open. Based on the design the socket can only mount one way. I have tried bending the mounting bracket a little but it still does not work correctly. Is there another mercury switch that is affecting this or is the replacement lamp socket defective also.
